What is it about Fertiles and water?

I saw him do a double take at me across the parking lot this morning.  We reached the steps at the same time and walked up to the the office together.

Fertile moron:  I wouldn't drink the water around here.

Trust me, it isn't the water.

Fertile moron:  Well, look at you.

Never, ever assume pregnancy is easy.

Especially for the Senior Mommas like me.

Fertile moron:  Sure seems like there are a lot of You Guys in the office.

I worked very, very hard to get here.

Never, ever assume pregnancy is easy.

I can only assume this is his way of saying Congratulations to me.

Fertiles, you continue to make me insane.

  1. I had a similar convo with my doorman. He said the water in the building made ppl fertile. Guess the water in my apt comes from another source. I had what I assume is a fertile look me and my stroller up and down this morning. I gave her tit for tat, but she started it.

  2. You should set him straight: it's not the water you should worry about, it's the toilets. (Or maybe that's advice re: herpes. I forget.) I'm fb "friends" (hahaha) with my postdoctoral advisor (for the non-academics: ex-boss) and he "congratulated" me on fb after I posted the first ever mention of my condition via a picture of my newborn baby....he said, "I knew it was that chair you sat in in my lab!" (One other postdoc had that desk before me, and was already pregnant when she joined the lab years ago. Also, I haven't worked for him for over 5 years.) So, morons are ubiquitous.

  3. I have a twin sister who I work with. Everyone keeps asking if we drank from the same fountain, or called each other and planned it. She got prego no problem while we had to go through a failed IVF cycle and then got lucky on our FET. Twins! but just found out at our 20 week u.s. that one did not make it. Wonder if that is caused by the water too. Idiots....

  5. Ugh I've heard this type of comment so many times where I work and it drives me crazy every single freaking time!
Sorry I've been so behind lately just caught up on your last few posts. Glad Glenda is watching you closely and hoping the pregnancy continue to move forward smoothly!

  6. Next time try giving him a detailed description of some of the procedures you've had. And say, 'yep, must have been the water'.

  9. Tell me about it. A baby boom started in my workplace just as we decided to start TTC again. In the 2+ years that have passed, at least one has gone for seconds.
I'm sure I won't be thanked for continuing the wave, and I'm already unhappy about being at the tail end. If I had had my way ...

  10. Hello beautiful pregnant friend. Lola and I were in the paper this week... Babyboom in the area. References to something in the water. It certainly wasn't a matter of luck and contaminated water for us! If it had been that easy I would have drunk a sh!tload (literally) of the yarra river! It feels so dismissive! Belly shot please? Long overdue!

  11. The water? I thought it was serving on the editorial board at my (former) work place. At least that's what I was told.
