Here is why you don't think negative things about someone

My MIL fell down our stairs and broke her neck.  Surgery was yesterday and she did well.

Inpatient rehab for 2 weeks follows when she is released from the hospital.  Release date unknown.

Horrible neck brace to wear for 2 months.

I cannot see anyone getting on a plane with that thing.

I cannot see anyone flying after such trauma and risking air turbulence.

In other news, I just started smoking.

  1. I know it's terribly inappropriate for me to even think this let alone type it out but....I'd be happy to trade you MIL's especially for baby naming service and upcoming holiday.

Sincerely hope your MIL is okay. Are you talking real cigs or those electronic version I see people with now?

Oh, and thanks for the update on the stupid comment thing. I didn't know it was there and have turned it off.

  2. I hope you're smoking Colorado-style -- it's better for you than cigarettes and certainly better for your nerves. And good for the snack food industry.

Sucks this is happening to you and your family. Hope all is well soon.

  3. Aw, man. Can't really think of anyone this doesn't suck for. I guess maybe the kids if they and she are tight. But yowsa. Hang in, mama. Yowsa again. <3

  4. Oh that's terrible news. I hope her recovery progresses well and rapidly, and that she finds herself fully mobile very soon.

  7. Damn, man. That sucks for your MIL. I hope she heals a-okay.

You better put those cigs down too. I'll be the first to admit, I looooooooove me some cigarette smoking, as gross as it is, but I haven't done it in years. I love walking behind someone that's puffing on one (without O in tow, of course) but that's the extent of my smoking these days. Stop smoking, Roccie!

  8. Oh sweetie. Your MIL stuck at your house -- what did you do to deserve that?? I'm so sorry. Let's magically think her out of there. Like, fastest recovery in history.

  9. Damn is right. What a nightmare. I am hoping surgery went well and that recovery is under way. Smoking. Yeah. I would pick that up, too, in this circumstance. All in all my worst nightmare there. Hang in there. I suggest hypnosis to project yourself out of your body and into a nice calm place. For as long as it takes.

  12. Sorry Roccie...in my sleep deprived state I missed the "our stairs" part and was actually thinking that you were bummed because she wouldn't be able to get in a plane and visit you. I seriously think I'd be doing more than smoking I'd my MIL was stuck anywhere near me for longer than a day or two. Maybe your husband could drive her home once she is cleared for rising in te car. God, I'm sorry for you.
