This ride is making me a little sick to my stomach...

My donor triggers tonight.

I don't mean to be a wimp, but I sort of feel like I might throw up.

This is it.  Her retrieval is on Monday.  Rocco goes in to drop off his business around 930 CDT.  Her retrieval may be complete by this time.  Whoa.  That means we will know how many eggs she produced from that luscious set of fertile ovaries.

She has been hovering right around 30 follicles the last few days.  Today is her stim day 9.  Typically women trigger on day 10.  I don't worry she triggering day 9.... right?

Thirty follicles doesn't promise us 30 eggs.  I know we have a couple hurdles to clear - not all follicles have eggs, not all eggs retrieved are mature.

Then we have the fertilization freak show.  I sit on pins and needles for 3-5 days while we see how things progress.

Where is that bucket for me to throw up into?  Dammit, Rocco, get me a bucket!

Full of peace, full of peace, full of peace.... holycrapthisisit..... FULL OF PEACE!!!!!

  8. That ten-days-on-stims is just a guideline. Nine is perfection. Seriously. Text book.

I am sending you all of my best fertilization thoughts. (Though, really, that sounds kind of freaky:)

  14. Can't go to sleep without telling you that you are so completely on my mind, beauty. Wow! Retrieval is tomorrow morning. That all seemed so mercifully fast, Roccie!! Was it like that for you? Is that part of the nausea?

In terms of breathing, my friend the psychologist recommends triangle breathing. Just do a little air triangle in front of you. Trace (with your finger tip) your first side from the bottom left to the upper tip BREATHING IN. Then trace the next side of the air triangle from the tip to the bottom right BREATHING OUT. Then trace the last, bottom side RESTING. Inhale, exhale, rest. Repeat.

Ok, I'll stop freaking you out with my extreme geekiness and will wish you a calm, peaceful sleep. Remember that the pins and needles section of this programming will be a joint broadcast with your hommies here in the blogosphere, and together, we will get through the fertilization period. Lean on us, woman. We are here with you. Don't doubt me on that.

I'm not sure you like hugs, but you're getting some from me anyways. Oh, and Happy Halloween. I thought about toddlerina in her costume today.

  15. Roccie:

Yes, it is surreal knowing that out there somewhere someone is carrying around the motherload (pun intended!) of eggs just for your own sweet self. The fear will settle once the retrieval has taken place, and then you will join a very luxuriant numbers game where for the first time you find yourself repeatedly asking;"HOW MANY?" in an excited way instead of the "HOW MANY?" in the sad and devastated way of old.

I have a nice good feeling about this for you!

    Can't wait for the updates!

  20. I'm kind of glad I didn't read this until now, because now it's one day closer to transfer! I hope retrieval went perfectly and that you get lots of great embryos. I can't imagine what the wait must be like, but I wanted you to know I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you.
