Beta Day 2: results are in for me to google all afternoon

I snapped at a coworker today and it felt great.  Don't you know you are severely lacking social skills and it is Beta Day?  Fool.

17dpo

       hCG            p4
Beta 1 Friday 288 34.3
Beta 2 Monday 1169 25

The good doctor is pleased with the results.

I had my nurse on the phone, so  I did not get the level of analysis I crave.  She won't speculate the way I like to - over and over.  Probably means she is good at her job.

We easily cleared the target hCG increases, but I don't know much about progesterone.

Where is Lisa when you need her??  Paging Dr. Adele!  Paging Dr. Misfit!

You know who I am afraid will chime in?  Dr. TwinMomma Kim of Chaos and Dr. Twin Stacie

Ha!  I should be so lucky.

  1. Check you out with your GORGEOUS second beta! This is looking pretty fabulous. I know you'd be thrilled with anything up to eight healthy babies in there, but I've seen no end of crazy high betas with singletons. Do you have to go in for a third, or is it anxious waiting for your first scan time?

  2. Good deal! That does look high.

  3. Lol! Progesterone fluctuates throughout the day, I know that for sure. Anything over 20 was good at my clinic. When I dropped to 18 one time, they had me up my pio to 2ccs. Of course then it jumped to like 75 and I was a lot of fun to be around. Ha!

Are you on pio or suppositories? Suppositories are harder to measure in the bloodstream from what I understand.

Think of this as a STRONG pregnancy and don't worry about twins!

  8. Gawd, those numbers look good on you, Roccie. Love em'! There's a growing embryo in there. (and I don't know what to say about whether you're into twinny land: I'm not a Dr. yet. Ask me Wednesday).
Super excited about this strong, strong start for you, Roccie. YEAH!

  9. Wow, are you sure you aren't growing twins in there? Those are some very high betas!

Clearly you've got at least one STRONG embryos growing in there! Hooray! How long until your first u/s?

  11. P4 does fluctuate. I think that beta is FANTASTIC. Now, I'd say twins, but you only transferred one. And identicals don't cause super high betas like fraternals do. So. Betas aren't cause to call for twins. But 5 day blast transfers DO have a slightly higher incidence of splitting. I'm just saying. ;)

    I <3 u.

  12. omg, your hcg went up by a crapload!! this is most excellent news. haha, i always try to get nurses to indulge me and speculate as well, but they never do. neither do the docs. whereas i LOVE to speculate. if you want me to feed your inner crazy right now, i have a spreadsheet that i put together (way back when) of about 15-20 bloggers and their hcg levels at "x" dpo's. heehee. i just wanted to make sure mine was in the right ballpark :o) xoxo.

  13. Hello roccie sweet! My first beta with Lola the strong was 1350. There was speculation about two in there but ultimately for us it meant one tough little bugger who I get to meet in approximately two weeks. She was always strong like yours by the looks of things! It means your little one is firmly implanted and growing which calls for a champagne pop! In approximately two weeks! ;) xxxxx

  15. Congrats again, Loverface. ♥

  16. Amazing beta numbers! If you are on PIO the number should be above 20, if you are on suppositories, the number should be above 5. P4 fluctuates throughout the day so as long you are above those guidelines, you are good. You are so on your way my friend.

Oh, not sure about you, but I am totally thinking there is more than one in there!

  17. You are so totally rocking it, love it!!

  18. Your numbers are great (both your HCG and P4)! That darn P4 can fluctuate so don't stress that it was lower than from the first draw.

  19. WHOOO HOOO! You are on easy street my dear friend! No need for me to analyze such FANTASTIC numbers. I don't think its twins though just a really strong singleton! And your P4 will drop as your lil' "beast" (that's what I call my little one when he wakes me up at 3AM because momma is STARVING) demands more and more P4. Your body will make more as it needs and if not...that's why they are monitoring it. There's more where that came from. But your P4 levels are seriously good. No worries Roccie! Hope you are celebrating!!

  20. Woohoo! Happy you have a solid second beta so you can perhaps relax a teeny teeny bit. :)

  21. Fantastic freaking beta!!! I feel like screaming at the top of my lungs, "celebrate good times, come on, lets celebrate!!!" So unbelievably thrilled for you my friend!

  22. Holy hCG, Batman! Good job clawing your way in, tiny one! :)

  23. Does everyone here know you only transferred one? You did only end up transferring one, right?? Think it split? Identical Rocclets??? That would be fun. Aaaanyway, I'm thrilled about these numbers for you. And jealous of all your p4 numbers so far! As I've mentioned to you and as others said above, they say 20-30 is dyno-mite. So awesome for you, my durrrrling. xoxo

  25. I ran some numbers and....carry the 1...your betas look damn fine. I want to make out with them.

  26. The doctor is in the hizzouzze. P4 from what I had been told is fine above 20! It will increase in the next draw, but might be only slightly higher. If you were supplemented it explains the high read on the first. All solid numbers missy. You are firmly in step 1+. Very, very excited for you!

  27. Congratulations Roccie! Wow, this is such great news.

  31. Dr. Adele here. I got lost on the golf course:)

Holy CRAP, Roccie:) That is a beautiful increase. Possibly twins. Or possibly a very, very sturdy singleton. (Damn those professional nurses who won't speculate).
