Recovering

I went to a young person's funeral.

He was 24.

He had a job.  He spent money on shoes for work.  It might not seem like much, but that was a sign he saw a future.  He hadnt been able to see that in a long time.

He was attending meetings.

No more disappearing for months at a time.  No more jail, half way houses, or group homes.  He was living with his mother again.  It was working so well.

He looked good. He gained 20 pounds and was learning how to work out, lift weights.

Recovering never becomes recovered.  It is was always there, talking to him.  One more time, he thought.

  2. I'm sorry. That's so young. You're right - there's no such thing as recovered. I wish there were. There should be. Damned world.

  4. Hey Roccie. I saw your blog listed in the LFCA .... and clicked on because my sons name is Rocco and I thought yours might be similar.

And then this post hit me right between the eyes - so true. I'm ten years this October, and I will never be cured, or recovered. Thank you for the reminder.

Good, good luck for your treatments. IVF sucks arse, but good on you for blogging your journey. One of the great things about doing that is the connections you make with people.
